Our Little Family

Christmastime 2006. I asked Kelley to knit Ricky and me beanies to match the one she made for Grace. She’s really good. It’s Ricky’s favorite. This was another attempt to get a family photo for Christmas cards. I'll send them out one of these years.

Lazy R Ranch

That’s what the Rasmuson cabin in Duchesne (pronounced doo-shAne) is named. This is Thanksgiving 2006. Pictured from left to right: Gramma Marilyn, Ricky, Grace, Amy, Tiffany, Chase, Mike, David, Diana, & Charlie.

Sail Away

“Is this way starboard or port? I never can tell the difference,” says Grace at her cousin Chase’s birthday party. He got a sandbox shaped like a boat.

It’s A Girl Thing

I don’t know why it’s so much fun to dress alike. I do it almost every day. Emma likes it too.

Pretty in Pink

Someday, arabesque with attitude and pirouettes rond de jambe.
Today, just a pink tutu, chubby feet, and sore ankles.

Bloom Where You’re Planted

Someone (not me), who loves to photograph her niece, and takes an insane amount of pictures, decided to put Grace in Gramma Karen’s flowerbed. Apparently Grace has no green thumb. But at least she’s photogenic.

Uncle! Uncle!

Grace with her uncle, Dan, who, bytheway, doesn’t like to wear shirts. I love the way he loves her.
Grace, Emma, and Hannah outside the front door at the Robisons.

Rise and Shine?

Zzzzzzzzzzz

Napping on her daddy on Father’s Day.

Gesundheit!

I have no words. Only tears of pure joy. There is nothing cuter (or more hilarious) that a huge sneeze from a tiny person.

Summer Fun!

Like many babies, Grace hated the feeling of grass on her bare feet.

I had to post this photo. This is Grace’s aunt Emma. I think she is one of the most beautiful girls in the world.
Did I hear a “Jub. Jub?” What a little chunk! She looks like an Ewok that just got shaved.
“Okay, okay! I’ve had enough with the pictures! And where’s my SPF 45?”

Matchy, Matchy, Red Pajamas!

Merry Christmas 2005! Grace and her cousin, Chase, on Christmas morning at Gramma and Grampa Rasmuson's house. Apparently, they were both teething because they couldn't keep their fingers out of their mouths.

We Love Gracie, Yes-Sir-Ree!

Proud parents. Shiny forehead. (I am my worst critic.)

Haul Out the Holly

Christmastime 2005. I intended to send out Christmas cards, like I intend to every year, but don't. So I dressed Grace up and had a little at-home photo shoot. These are my favorite shots.
I love her expressions. This one is so cute it just kills me.
Still so tiny her hands don't fit out of the end of her sleeves.

Winter Chill

This was Grace's first sledding outing. She hated it. It was too cold.
But she sure looked cute decked out in all her gear!

Grace Irene Rasmuson

Blessing day: we had a nice, private blessing with only our immediate families at Gramma and Grampa Rasmuson's home in Salt Lake.

Build-A-Bear

We took Grace to Build-A-Bear once, and I couldn't help dressing her up. She looks so smart.
We really wore her out that day. She passed out in my arms once we got home.

Beanie Baby

Hand-knitted by Kelley, Grace's aunt. She still wears it. The matching booties don't fit anymore, but they're tucked away in her keepsake box.
This little stroller belonged to Grace's aunt Hannah. She gave it to Grace who likes to stand up in it now and tip over on her face.
Just look at those eyes. I love my little snow angel.

The Early Months

Grace loved her jumper. We put her in there when she was still really little. We had to put a teddy bear in there with her to fill up the space, and keep her company. My favorite thing she would do when she would jump is straighten out her little legs and stand on her tip toes. She had a good rhythm. Jump, jump, jump, strreeetch. Jump, jump, jump, strreeetch.
She sure loves her dad. And I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual.
She made so many funny faces as an infant! This was one of my favorites. She reminds me of Yoda.

Baby Precious

"Baby Precious." That's what I called her. I still do sometimes, but now it's mostly "Missy Mayhem," or "Little Tornado."
Hmmm, so peaceful. It's amazing how much they change, huh? Well, I guess if she's sleeping...

17 months and counting

I realized that when you blog, the newer posts go to the top. I haven't found a way to rearrange them, and I'm a bit obsessed with organization, so I decided to plug these in here now.

I don’t have very many good pictures of me pregnant with Grace. Ricky and I went to San Francisco with some of his family way back when. Grace was with us in-utero. This is my first look at my “baby precious.” I was so exhausted. I remember thinking, “Wow she looks like her dad.”
This is Grace’s hospital photo. Ricky told me that he and the nurse tried everything to get her to open her eyes. She came here stubborn, and hasn’t changed.
This is Grace and I napping just after we came home from the hospital. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we had a hard time breaking the co-sleeping habit. Have I mentioned that we still sleep together occasionally?

...and Everything Nice

We spent New Year's Eve with the Robisons this year. Grace's aunt Hannah fixed her hair up like this. What a cutie, if I don't say so myself.

Derivatives and Integrals

Just your average father-daughter bonding moment. Grace taught Ricky the fundamentals of advanced calculus. She's a great tutor. Ricky got an A+ on that assignment.

With Love, From Poppop

Grace's Great-Great Grandmother (known as Poppop by those who love her most) knitted this hat for her. They also share a middle name: Irene. Precious. We both hope to be as beautiful as Poppop when we grow up.

The Animal Train

"All aboard! Hop onboard the animal train. Come on, everyone! Learning about animals is really lots of fun!" Grace got this train from her aunt Diana for Christmas, and she loves it. The songs are pretty catchy, too. I hear them in my dreams. Grace decided to take one song literally and "hop onboard."
Then she started showing off by performing very complicated stunts, like riding on two wheels.
